Fendt Paver Installation in Novi & Clinton Township, Michigan

Fendt Builder’s Supply has been making concrete pavers in Farmington Hills since 1924 — over a century of hardscape products engineered for the exact climate they live in. At All Brick Design, we’re an ICPI-certified masonry contractor that installs Fendt across Metro Detroit from our Novi and Clinton Township locations. We’ve watched the same Fendt driveways and patios outlast trends, owners, and a hundred Michigan winters.
Why Fendt Pavers Are Built for Michigan Weather
Most paver failures here don’t come from traffic — they come from water. Water seeps in, freezes, expands, and cracks the surface. A cheap paver becomes rubble inside a decade. Fendt is engineered to survive that cycle.
Exceeds ASTM C936
Fendt guarantees its pavers exceed ASTM C936, the U.S. standard for interlocking concrete pavers. That means a minimum 8,000 PSI average compressive strength (no individual unit below 7,200 PSI), maximum 5% average water absorption, and freeze-thaw testing per ASTM C1645. The high Portland cement content and pressed-density manufacturing are what keep water out — and that’s what survives a Michigan winter.
Color That Doesn’t Wash Out
Fendt uses high-content integral pigment mixed throughout the paver — not surface-sprayed. When the surface eventually wears, the color underneath matches. That’s why our customers’ Fendt driveways still look new fifteen years in. Fendt also offers one of the widest blend selections of any paver maker in the region, plus custom colors through their Spectrum Collection.
Made in Michigan, for Michigan
Fendt’s plant sits 20 miles from our Novi location. They’ve been making pavers in this climate since 1924 — currently led by Alan Fendt, the third-generation family leader. No out-of-state guesswork, and no long supply chains to break down when you need a matching replacement piece down the road.
Fendt Paver Lines We Install
These are the lines from Fendt’s 2025 catalog we install most often:
Holland 4×8 & Holland Series

The catalog workhorse. Holland 4×8 is the traditional rectangular paver — rated for vehicular loads, available in Fendt’s full color range. Holland Series adds 8×8 and 12×12 sizes for larger-format patterns. This is what we install on most full driveway replacements: it locks together in herringbone patterns that distribute vehicle weight evenly.
Old World Holland, Vintage & Random

Tumbled-edge versions with a weathered, European-cobblestone look. Best for traditional homes and walkways through mature landscaping. The Old World colors — Burgundy, Limestone, Mossy Oak, Rustic, Walnut Blends — pair naturally with brick or stone homes throughout Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, and the historic Grosse Pointes.
Harbor Stone & Bay Stone

Multi-piece systems that combine into random, organic patterns. Popular for patios and walkways where you want a refined, contemporary look without committing to a single large-format slab. Common on the new builds in Novi, Northville, and Macomb Township.
Vintage Series & Symetry

Vintage offers six shapes plus a circle pattern — the right call for sweeping curves and circular patios. Symetry is a Fendt-original shape designed to combine with 6×6 pavers for custom geometric layouts.
Eco-Brick™ and Eco-Classic Permeable Pavers

Engineered with wider joints and an open-graded base so rainwater drains through the surface instead of running off. Increasingly required by stormwater codes in parts of Oakland and Macomb counties, and a smart fix anywhere you have drainage concerns. The paver itself becomes the drainage system.
Wall Stone: Glenstone, Verazzo, Stonegate

Fendt also makes the matching retaining wall units, caps, steps, and piers — so we can build a full hardscape (driveway, patio, walls, steps, fire pit) in a single coordinated palette from one Michigan manufacturer.
Where Fendt Pavers Make the Most Sense
Driveways
Driveways take the worst of Michigan weather — direct sun, road salt, full vehicle weight. Fendt’s exceeds-C936 strength and integral color make them one of the few paver brands we’ll spec for full driveway replacements without hesitation. Holland 4×8 in herringbone is our most-installed product.
Patios, Pool Decks & Walkways
Fendt’s tight tolerances and integral color mean patios look the same in year fifteen as they did in year one — no fading, no chalking, no shifting. The tumbled lines (Old World Holland, Old World Vintage) and Harbor Stone are popular around pools because they’re slip-resistant when wet and the freeze-thaw rating holds up to a New England winter spent under a pool cover. Walkways take more salt and shovel abuse than almost any other surface; the Old World tumbled lines hide minor wear and survive snow removal without showing chips.
Permeable Driveways for Stormwater Compliance
If your township has tightened stormwater rules — or your lot drains toward your foundation — Fendt’s Eco-Brick™ or Eco-Classic permeable pavers are often the simplest fix. We’ve used them on builds in West Bloomfield, Shelby Township, and Macomb where the township specifically required permeable surfaces.
Commercial & Multi-Family
Fendt’s batch-to-batch color consistency matters more on commercial work than residential — at 20,000 square feet, even small color shifts between pallets show up. Fendt’s QC keeps that from happening, and the brand’s longevity means matching pieces will be available years later for repairs.
Fendt vs. Lower-Cost Pavers
Why we recommend Fendt over big-box pavers that cost less per square foot:
| Spec | Fendt | Generic / Big-Box |
|---|---|---|
| Compressive Strength | Guaranteed to exceed ASTM C936 (8,000 PSI minimum) | Often meets minimum with little margin |
| Water Absorption | Below 5% average max | Frequently at or near the maximum |
| Color Method | High-content integral pigment | Often surface-only color |
| Where It’s Made | Farmington Hills, MI (since 1924) | Out-of-state or imported |
| Future Color Match | Reliable across batches and years | Color drift between pallets is common |
| Lifespan in MI Climate | 30+ years with normal maintenance | 10–15 years before noticeable failure |
Pavers are an installation that’s poured once and lived on for decades. The price-per-square-foot delta between Fendt and a budget product is small compared to the difference in lifespan and how the installation looks twenty years in.
How All Brick Installs Fendt Pavers
The paver matters, but the install is what determines whether you’re calling someone in three years to fix settling. All Brick is ICPI-certified — the standards body Fendt itself recommends for installation. Our process:
- Site & soil assessment. Michigan clay soils need different base prep than sandy lots. We spec base depth to what’s actually under your project.
- Engineered base. 8″ of compacted ICPI-spec aggregate is the well-drained minimum for driveways; clay soils common across Oakland and Macomb may need up to 12″. Patios and walkways are typically 6″. Base failure is the #1 cause of paver problems in this climate, and we don’t shortcut it.
- Geotextile fabric. Installed between subgrade and base on every project to prevent soil migration. Especially important in Michigan clay.
- Compaction in 2″–3″ lifts. Tighter than the ICPI 4″ maximum, for higher density and a base that handles freeze-thaw without settling.
- Polymeric joint sand. Locks pavers in place, resists weeds, sheds water.
- Heavy-duty edge restraint. PVC or aluminum on every perimeter. Without it, pavers spread under driveway loads.
Maintenance Through Michigan Winters
- Snow removal: Use a plastic-edged shovel or a poly-edged plow blade (not steel).
- De-icing salt: Per Fendt, magnesium chloride is the least damaging de-icer for pavers. Sodium chloride (rock salt) and calcium chloride are more aggressive — use sparingly.
- Joint sand refresh: Top off polymeric sand every 5–7 years. Easy to ignore, but it’s what keeps water out from under the pavers.
- Efflorescence: A natural white deposit that typically weathers off on its own. Not a defect; not covered under Fendt’s warranty. Specific cleaners are available if you want it gone sooner.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long do Fendt pavers last in Michigan?
With proper installation and basic maintenance, Fendt pavers regularly last 30+ years. Fendt’s structural integrity warranty covers products that fail to meet ASTM specifications during the warranty period.
Are Fendt pavers more expensive than concrete or asphalt?
Per square foot at install, yes. Over a 30-year span they’re typically less expensive — concrete and asphalt need replacement or major resurfacing in 15–20 years, while a properly installed Fendt field gets resanded and keeps going. Pavers also add resale value that concrete doesn’t.
Can you match existing Fendt pavers for repairs?
Almost always. Fendt keeps product lines in production for decades. Note that Fendt doesn’t guarantee an exact color match on replacement units (no concrete paver maker does — there’s natural batch variation), but matches are usually close enough that small repairs blend well.
Do snow plows damage Fendt pavers?
Properly installed Fendt pavers don’t crack from snow removal. Use a plastic-edged shovel or poly-edged plow. For de-icing, magnesium chloride is the least aggressive option.
Is All Brick certified to install Fendt?
Yes. We’re ICPI-certified — the standards body Fendt itself recommends. We’ve installed Fendt across Metro Detroit since 2016 and we’re A+ rated by the BBB.
